Craig Land Management offers skid steer services for the odd jobs and mixed jobs around a property. A brush pile has to go, and the drive washed out in the last hard rain. A load of gravel sits in a heap by the shed. We bring the skid steer and swap attachments as the work changes.
We work with a compact track loader, a skid steer that moves on tracks instead of tires. It runs a grapple, a brush cutter or a drum mulcher head, the same head we use for forestry mulching. It grades and spreads dirt and gravel too, and what has to leave goes out on the dump trailer. We are based in Monette, east of Jonesboro, and work about 50 miles around Jonesboro.

The grapple grabs and carries. It picks up brush piles, downed limbs and logs and loads what has to leave onto the dump trailer.
The drum mulcher head grinds brush, saplings and small trees into mulch right where they stand. It opens fence rows and trails, and it chews through thick underbrush. We look at the larger timber on the estimate. When the whole job is thick brush and vines, that is brush clearing.
The brush cutter mows down tall grass, weeds, briars and light brush. For grading, the skid steer knocks down high spots and fills low ones. A mixed job can call for several of these in one visit.
Skid steer grading covers the everyday ground work around a home or farm. We level a spot for a shed, shop or garden, and we smooth ruts and washouts. We also spread and grade gravel, fill dirt or topsoil. Shaping a whole yard to drain is a bigger job, covered under dirt work and grading.
Some work is outside what we take on. Ponds, septic systems and house foundations need deep digging, and that is work for another company. We do not offer stump grinding; the mulcher cuts brush and small trees to the ground. Big standing trees close to a house call for a tree service.
Before any ground work, buried lines need to be marked. There is no cost to contact Arkansas 811, and utilities have two working days to locate their lines. Arkansas 811 says anyone who will be disturbing the ground needs to call, homeowners and farmers included.
Monette sits on Buffalo Island, the Delta lowland between the Little River and the St. Francis River. The land here is flat, so rain drains slowly and low spots hold water. A compact track loader spreads its weight over a much larger area than a machine on tires. It sinks less in soft ground, where a wheeled machine can get stuck.
Crowley's Ridge rises some 250 feet above the flat land around it, and Jonesboro and Paragould sit on it. The Ridge is capped with loess, which erodes very easily. Without grass or trees to hold it, bare soil there washes away. We fill ruts and washouts with the skid steer and smooth the ground back out.

We put in new gravel driveways and farm roads, and we regravel drives that have gone to potholes. The rock gets spread and graded with the skid steer, and the drive gets a crown so water sheds off.

After a tornado, high wind or an ice storm, we cut up downed trees and haul the debris off. The grapple and the dump trailer open a driveway or a lot back up.
Learn MoreA skid steer runs all three. The drum mulcher takes brush and small trees. The brush cutter takes tall grass and briars. The grapple loads what has to leave the property.
Brush and small trees are ground up where they stand and left as a mulch layer over the dirt. That covers the ground and saves hauling. What is too big for the mulcher goes out on the dump trailer.
